Clarity, Values and Why I'm Speaking Up

Clarity, Values and Why I'm Speaking Up

In case I wasn’t clear before, I want to be very clear now: this isn’t about politics. This is about people. Our neighbors. Our communities. What’s happening close to home.

I’ve received a few responses suggesting I should leave topics like this out of my business. I hear that perspective, and I respectfully disagree. My values don’t turn off when I’m working. Shade Tree Naturals exists because it’s rooted in care, integrity, and respect for human dignity, and I’m not willing to separate those things from how I show up.

Speaking honestly doesn’t weaken a business, it defines it. It clarifies who this space is for and who it isn’t. I’m not interested in growth that depends on silence or ignoring actions that directly conflict with my morals. I would rather build something slower, smaller, and more intentional than something bigger that requires me to look away.

I believe deeply in working with people who are aligned. When values are shared, the work feels lighter, the relationships feel real, and showing up feels honest. That kind of connection is what makes running a business feel sustainable and worth it.

I want to be clear: I do not agree, morally or ethically, with what is happening. I won’t back down from that stance, even when it’s uncomfortable.

If this perspective doesn’t align with you, I understand. This space is grounded in my values, and they aren’t up for negotiation. If you feel this is no longer the place for you, you’re free to see yourself out.

With care,
Tara
